Description
This collection of buttons features a variety of early to mid-20th-century plastics, including Bakelite and celluloid. The assortment includes various sizes and shapes, such as circular, geometric, and figural forms including leaves and flowers. The color palette consists of black, deep brown, butterscotch, emerald green, and olive. Many pieces are intricately carved with floral, starburst, or geometric motifs, while others incorporate mixed media elements including gold-tone metal centers, glass rhinestones, and mosaic-style shell inlays. Notable designs include a brown button set with a large, faceted amber-colored faux gemstone and a black button with a central floral metal applique. The buttons are mounted on a neutral-toned display card labeled BAKELITE.
