Description
This extensive collection of vintage and antique buttons is presented across four themed display boards. The first grouping features brass-toned work clothes wobble shank buttons with commercial markings for brands such as Red Diamond St. Louis, Crown Overall, Victor, Star Brand Johnstown PA, Round House, and Alliance Coat. The second board, labeled Horn Livery, contains carved black horn buttons depicting various heraldic crests, crowns, and mythical figures. The third board, titled Livery Animals, consists of silver and gold-toned metal buttons embossed with lions, griffins, and horses. The final board, Insects and Invertebrates, showcases a diverse assembly of buttons crafted from enamel, bone, jade, shell, jasperware, lampwork glass, ivory, wood, celluloid, and rubber. Notable items in this group include a studio lampwork glass firefly button by C. Behrens featuring a uranium glass tail that fluoresces under ultraviolet light, a Jasperware Maybug button by Shirley dated 2002, and a carved ivory staghorn beetle. This assembly illustrates that these are buttons of diverse material and historical interest.
Display boards approximately 18 inches by 9 inches combined. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
