Description
An assortment of vintage and antique buttons featuring various musical motifs. These are buttons manufactured from gold- and silver-toned metals, early plastics including celluloid and bakelite, and glass. The decorative elements across the group include various musical instruments such as pianos, saxophones, lutes, harps, and accordions, as well as musical notation, treble clefs, and a pictorial depiction of a gramophone. Notable pieces include two metal coin-style buttons depicting Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and a large central gilt-metal button with a high-relief arrangement of instruments and foliage. The collection is presented mounted on a cream-colored card decorated with hand-drawn green vine borders and the handwritten initials AEM in the upper right corner.
