Description
An assortment of novelty, commercial, and commemorative buttons categorized by the theme of writing and verbal text. These are buttons constructed from various materials including molded plastic, gold- and silver-tone metals, wood, ceramic, and fabric. The collection includes collegiate and organizational motifs such as Michigan and TKE, alongside commercial brand names like Escada and Bugle Boy. Slogans and phrases are featured throughout, including Cute as a Button, Route 66, Are We There Yet?, and the French inscription Protegez Nous. Figurative designs include representations of pencils, a book titled Mend Book, a clock, a dollar sign, and a manhole cover. Construction methods vary between sew-through, shank-back, and pinback styles.
