Description
This collection of assorted antique and vintage stud buttons is mounted on a display card labeled STUD BACK. The group features a variety of materials including enameled metal, mother of pearl, carved glass, shell cameos, and inset stones. Decorative techniques include relief-cast metal, intricate inlay, and hand-carved details in Victorian, Art Deco, and commemorative styles. Notable examples include a brass-toned stud depicting a high-wheel bicycle embossed with SWELL SPECIAL CLEVELAND, a metal stud embossed COPPER COUNTRY, and a small enameled disc depicting a juggler. Other pieces include a carved shell cameo, a square stud with a gold-toned profile, and various geometric and floral designs. The functional stud-back mechanisms are visible on the reverse of the card.
