Description
This collection consists of carved buttons fashioned from mother-of-pearl and various types of shell. The items are presented on two display boards labeled REALISTICS MOP and REALISTICS (SHELL). The collection features a wide array of realistic and novelty forms, including animals such as dogs, elephants, birds, fish, a cobra, a shrimp, a rabbit, and a lion. Botanical and nautical motifs are also present, including flowers, leaves, a multi-masted ship, a sailboat, and a scimitar. Other decorative forms include a human hand, an acorn, and a horseshoe. Many pieces exhibit detailed carving that utilizes the natural iridescence and color variations of the shell materials. The boards include handwritten annotations for identification, such as PINNA SHELL (NON IRID.), and notes regarding specific symbols like the Merlion.
Measurements: Display boards approximately 12 x 14 inches each; individual items range from 0.25 to 4.5 inches in length. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
