Description

United States Marine Corps inscribed sharpshooter medal to a USMC veteran who served in both World War One and WW2. The back of the suspension bar is engraved “Bert D. Porter” and the date “1917” is engraved on the back of the medal. The World War Two pinback attachment device is obviously a replacement, most likely done during his service time in WW2.  Porter’s service records indicate that he spent time at Paris Island, South Carolina as a shooting instructor and then served in Haiti during the Haitian Campaign. He re enlisted during WWII.  Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
