Description
Imperial German Pre WWI 2nd Class 1870 Iron Cross Decoration. Measures 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″. The front of the maltese cross shows King’s crown on the upper arm with a ‘W’ in the center. It is dated ‘1870’on the lower arm. The upper arm on the reverse side has a King’s crown with the letters ‘FW’ below. There is a three leaf oak leaf branch in the center. It is dated 1813 on the lower arm. The round suspension ring is maker marked ‘WS’. Includes the presentation machine embroidered cloth woven cotton ribbon. Ribbon measures 1 3/16” x 7 5/8″. Three piece construction that has a die struck German silver frame with an iron magnetic center. Awarded during the 1870 – 1871 Franco Prussian War. Excellent condition. Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
