Overall excellent condition six volume set, “The Image of War 1861-1865”.This comprehensive six-volume set of American Civil War photographs was published in 1983 by Doubleday in association with the National Historical Society. Edited by William C. Davis and Bell Irvin Wiley, this collection features renowned work by photographers like Matthew Brady and Alexander Gardner. Over 4,000 photographs, many previously unpublished. This set is complete with no volumes missing. It has only had one owner. It was purchased by our consignor at the time of publication and was immediately placed on bookshelves in a smoke free home and occasionally used for research. With the exception of very minor shelf wear this set is in excellent – near mint condition. Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
