Description
Civil War CDV of 1st Lieutenant Charles Soule of Co. K, 64th New York Infantry. “Lt. Chas Soule” is written in period browned ink on the front and “64th N. Y. Vols is written on the back. The photographer’s “W. Benham Attica, N.Y.” is on the front. ]Soule enlisted as a private at Attica, New York on 9/21/1861. He rose through the ranks and as 1st Lieutenant of Co.K was wounded in the Wheatfield at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 2, 1863. He was discharged on July 8, 1864. The 64th Infantry fought in the 2nd Army Corps for most of its term of service. 173 officers and enlisted men were killed or mortally wounded with heavy casualties sustained at Fair Oaks, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Bristoe Station, and Spotsylvania Court House. Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
