Description

A WWII-era US Army M1942 pattern mountain rucksack, specifically designed for specialized mountain and ski troops such as the 10th Mountain Division. The pack is constructed from heavy-duty olive drab cotton duck canvas and is mounted on a contoured tubular steel external frame. The main body features a large central compartment with a drawstring top closure protected by a large weather flap. The front of the rucksack has three large external accessory pockets, each secured by a flap and a leather strap with a metal buckle. The suspension system includes adjustable canvas webbing shoulder straps and a wide horizontal webbing belly band designed to distribute weight to the hips. The exterior top flap is stenciled with the characters U.S. in black ink. No manufacturer markings or contract dates are clearly visible in the provided photographs. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
