Description
A lot featuring two original World War II-era items intended for military recreation and training. The first item is a US War Department Technical Manual, TM 21-220, titled Sports and Games, dated May 13, 1942. This softcover publication served as a guide for unit athletic officers within the Army and Navy. The interior contains rules and instructional illustrations for various sports, including boxing, handball, javelin, and discus throw. The second item is the Squadron Scramble Card Game No. 2, manufactured by the Whitman Publishing Company (Product No. 3947). The game was designed to assist in aircraft identification and bears the marks Authorized Air Youth Game and Approved by National Aeronautic Association. The lot includes the original illustrated cardboard box and an assortment of playing cards. Each card depicts a color illustration of a specific WWII aircraft, such as the Lockheed P-38E, Messerschmitt ME-110, and Mitsubishi 96 Fighter, accompanied by technical specifications and national insignia. The card backs are decorated with a repeating green geometric lattice pattern. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
