Description
This lot consists of three original softcover technical training manuals published by the Printing Plant at The Field Artillery School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, during the interwar period. The collection includes: Field Artillery: Gunnery, 1936 Edition; Field Artillery: The Battery Detail (75-mm Gun, Horse-drawn and Tractor-drawn), 1933 Edition, labeled Book 200; and Army Extension Courses: Special Text No. 92 – Field Artillery Signal Communication; Signal Agencies, 1931 Edition. The manuals are bound in red cardstock covers with reinforced black cloth tape spines. The title pages feature the Field Artillery School crest with the motto CEDAT FORTUNA PERITIS. The texts provide comprehensive instruction on artillery fire principles, battery organization, and communication methods including radio nets, wire communication, and switchboard operations. Illustrations include technical diagrams of field telephone equipment, battery positions, signal agencies, and gunner formulas. The manuals contain various period handwritten notations and signatures. The Gunnery manual is signed on the back cover by Jack Zeidman with identification number UN 2519 and contains handwritten formulas on the interior title page. The Signal Communication manual is signed by Thomas J. McCoogher, dated 1/8/32, with a residential address in New York. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
