July Military Auction
Lot 25402:
Description
This lot consists of two United States Marine Corps USMC P41 Pattern 1941 utility jackets, a standard issue garment from the World War II and Korean War eras. Both jackets are constructed from cotton herringbone twill HBT fabric in olive drab. The P41 pattern is characterized by a four-button front closure and three open patch pockets, with one located on the left chest and two at the lower hips. Each jacket features a black stenciled insignia on the chest pocket consisting of the letters USMC above the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor EGA emblem. The copper-tone metal donut-style buttons are embossed with the circular text U.S. MARINE CORPS. Faint, partially legible characters are visible on the interior neck and inside pockets of both garments, likely representing size or service laundry marks. The two jackets exhibit different color tones, with one having faded to a lighter sage green and the other retaining a darker olive shade, which is common for authentic period surplus due to varying dye lots and levels of service exposure.
