Description

This lot consists of three original United States Marine Corps P1941 pattern utility jackets dating from the World War II era. Each garment is constructed from olive drab cotton herringbone twill fabric characterized by a distinctive V-shaped weave. The design features an open collar, a four-button front closure, and three external patch pockets including one on the left chest and two at the waist. The jackets utilize metal donut-style tack buttons embossed with the transcription U. S. MARINE CORPS. All three jackets feature a black ink stencil on the left chest pocket consisting of the letters USMC above the Marine Corps Eagle, Globe, and Anchor insignia. One jacket is named to C. E. MAGRUDER via a black ink stencil located above the left chest pocket. A second jacket possesses hand-written internal markings in the neck area including 819 in red and G-107 in black. The third jacket features faint, illegible markings on the interior fabric near the collar. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos.
