Description
This lot consists of two United States Marine Corps (USMC) service green wool uniform garments dating to the Vietnam War era. The first item is a standard USMC Service Dress Green (Alpha) tunic. It features a four-pocket front with bellows-style pockets and pointed flaps, secured by black-finished metal buttons embossed with the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor (EGA) insignia. The sleeves are adorned with Sergeant (E-5) rank insignia, indicated by three chevrons over crossed rifles, a configuration introduced in 1959. The lower left sleeve features three diagonal service stripes, signifying twelve years of active service. The second item is a double-breasted wool serge overcoat. It is designed with large notched lapels, black-finished EGA buttons, and a rear half-belt. The sleeves carry matching Sergeant rank insignia and service stripes. The interior of the overcoat retains a white contract label that reads: OVERCOAT, MAN’S, WOOL, SERGE, GREEN, DSA 100-68-C-0435, 100% WOOL, DRY CLEAN ONLY, CLIMATIC INC. The DSA contract number indicates a 1968 production year. An additional tag identifies the size as 39 S. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
