Description
This is a US Army M1943 (Type III) Special one-piece Herringbone Twill (HBT) utility work suit, commonly referred to as coveralls. The garment is constructed from heavy-duty cotton Herringbone Twill fabric in Olive Drab Shade 7, featuring the characteristic V-weave pattern. This specific pattern, designated as the Special model under Spec. No. 6-298, includes an internal gas flap behind the front button closure, a feature added in 1943 for chemical warfare protection. The coveralls are outfitted with blackened metal tack buttons featuring a circular 13-star relief pattern. The design includes two large chest patch pockets with button-down flaps, two large thigh patch pockets, and a tool pocket on the right leg. An integral HBT waist belt is present with a blackened metal slide buckle. A white cloth size label is sewn into the interior collar.
