Description
This comprehensive collection of U.S. Army military memorabilia spans from the World War II era through the post-Vietnam and Cold War periods. The lot includes a large embroidered shoulder patch for Company L, 75th Infantry (Ranger), an airborne long-range patrol unit active during the Vietnam War. Several subdued embroidered shoulder sleeve insignia are present, including those for the 1st Army, 3rd Army, and the 2nd Infantry Division. Full-size medals include the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. Accompanying ribbon bars include the World War II Victory, American Campaign, and Good Conduct ribbons. A large assortment of brass collar discs and pins includes U.S. national insignia and branch-specific designs for Infantry (crossed rifles), Field Artillery (crossed cannons), and the Corps of Engineers (castle). These insignia feature both early-period screw-back and later clutch-back fasteners. Two large gold-toned brass Great Seal eagle insignia for service caps are included. A substantial quantity of gold-colored brass uniform buttons featuring the Great Seal of the United States are present in various sizes; several are marked Waterbury Button Co. Waterbury Conn. on the reverse. Equipment hardware includes several brass and black-painted steel belt buckles, sliders, and a section of olive drab cotton webbing. Multiple braided shoulder cords (fourragères) are included in light blue and green/red color patterns. Two labeled plastic bags are present, though they currently contain buttons rather than the American flag patches indicated on the labels. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
