Description

This is a World War II-era United States Army Glider Badge, first authorized in 1944 for personnel assigned to glider units who participated in combat landings or completed prescribed instruction. The insignia is struck in sterling silver and features a stylized front view of a Waco CG-4A glider centered upon outspread wings. This specimen includes two small bronze-colored stars affixed to the lower sections of the wings, signifying participation in two separate combat glider assaults. The reverse is clearly stamped STERLING on the body of the glider. It is equipped with a horizontal pin and a rotating safety catch.
