Description
This lot consists of an original World War II era United States Army Air Forces storage box and accessory kit for a Type A-14 demand-type oxygen mask. The primary oxygen mask unit is absent from this lot. The components were produced by The Ohio Chemical and Mfg. Co. of Cleveland, Ohio. The storage container is a two-piece green-toned cardboard box featuring printed line-art illustrations of the mask and flight helmet assembly on the front and side panels. The reverse side includes a perforated hanger tab intended for mounting the box within an aircraft.
The lot includes a group of accessories including an original instruction pamphlet titled Instructions Mask, Oxygen Demand Type A-14, which features photographic Figure 1 showing the mask in use. Also included is a worn brown paper accessory envelope and various mounting hardware components. The hardware includes a section of olive drab canvas suspension strapping with four integrated snap fasteners, one metal loop buckle, and approximately fifteen loose metal snap studs.
