Description
A trio of original United States military M1 helmet covers dating to the Vietnam War era. These covers are manufactured from heavy-duty cotton twill and feature the iconic reversible Mitchell camouflage pattern. One side displays the green leaf and vine pattern designed for spring and summer environments, while the reverse features the brown cloud or beach pattern intended for autumn and winter use. The construction follows the standard six-flap design used to secure the cover between the helmet shell and liner, and includes reinforced, machine-stitched slots for the insertion of natural foliage.
Legible ink contract stamps are present on the flaps of the brown-side camouflage:
Cover 1: COVER HELMET CAMOUFLAGE, DSA100-69-C-2533, 8415-261-6833, MPLS. SOC. F/T BLIND INC. (indicating a 1969 contract).
Cover 2: COVER HELMET CAMOUFLAGE, DSA100-68-C-2533, 8415-261-6833, MPLS. SOC. F/T BLIND INC. (indicating a 1968 contract).
Cover 3: Features corresponding markings, though some lines are partially obscured by field wear.
The manufacturer for these items is identified as the Minneapolis Society for the Blind Inc. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale.
