Burns March Gallery Auction
Lot 9210:
Description
A vintage handmade cotton patchwork quilt featuring the traditional Grandmother’s Flower Garden pattern. The decorative top is composed of numerous multi-colored hexagonal floral medallions, each featuring a yellow center surrounded by a variety of printed and solid fabric petals. These floral units are set against a white hexagonal lattice and framed by a continuous green lattice background, often referred to as a “green path” design. The quilt features a distinctive scalloped edge that follows the hexagonal geometry of the patchwork. The piece exhibits hand-stitching throughout the construction. The reverse is finished with a solid white cotton backing. No maker’s marks or labels are present. Approximately 71 inches wide by 94 inches long. Burns in-house shipping is available.
