Description

Four Cabinet card style photographs taken at the Shiloh Battlefield most likely during the 2nd Shiloh Battlefield Association Reunion in April 1895. The first image bears a photographer’s imprint and caption on the front, “F. Head Mexico Mo.” “National Cemetery Pittsburg Landing Tenn. River in the Distance”. The other images have browned ink inscriptions on the back, “View in Cemetery looking North from Stand”,  Cemetery looking North from Govt House”, “Cemetery looking East from flag staff”. These four images are from a group of 18 Shiloh related images found together. The photographer of the unidentified images was also most likely F. Head of Mexico, Missouri. The images each measure 7″ x 4.5″ and are affixed to 8″ x 5″ mats. NOTE: These four photographs are from a group of 18 Shiloh Battlefield – Reunion related photographs found together. The other images are listed in lots. While none of the images in this lot are dated and only the first image bears a photographer’s imprint, we believe that all of these photos were taken by F. Head of Mexico, Missouri at the 1895 Shiloh Battlefield reunion. We base this on the following; Most of the 18 images are the same size and are mounted on identical mats. The only photographer listed on any of these images which bear photographer imprints is F. Head of Mexico, Missouri. Finally, any of the photos which are dated bear dates from April 1895; the time frame of the reunion.
