Description
This collection of buttons is unified by various dragon motifs and presented on a display board. The assortment includes examples crafted from diverse materials such as Jasperware, Satsuma, painted ceramic, mother-of-pearl with steel overlays, carved bone set in wood, and vegetable ivory. Metal examples include brass, pewter, steel, and silver, featuring techniques such as relief casting, piercing, and enameling. Glass buttons are also present, including black glass and check glass varieties. Notable pieces include a blue Jasperware button with a white dragon in relief, a hand-painted Satsuma button with gilt accents, and a silver button marked S Silver. The buttons are mounted on a white board with typed identification labels for materials and construction methods.
