Description
This collection of antique buttons features specimens primarily of tole construction, including lacquered and painted metal. The buttons are presented on four separate collector cards. The assortment includes various shapes such as circular, oval, and marquise forms. Most pieces are decorated with gold-toned or silver-toned pictorial and geometric motifs set against black backgrounds. Observable designs include fans, windmills, floral arrangements, insects, and architectural scenes. One notable specimen is a small, light-grey hexagonal button featuring a colorful hand-painted rose. One display card is embellished with a decorative pink and gold floral border.
