Description

An assortment of antique and vintage buttons organized across four display cards, featuring a wide variety of materials and design styles. These items are buttons crafted from mother-of-pearl, brass, steel, pewter, glass, enamel, vegetable ivory, ceramic, bone, phenolic, celluloid, rubber, casein, leather, and wood. Notable specimens include a 19th-century Goodyear rubber button dated 1891, a Dorset type fabric star button, and various examples of filigree and hand-painted work. The collection is categorized by theme, including a circular pinwheel arrangement, a grid-based patterns work card, and a geometric display with individual material labels. The leftmost card is accompanied by a 2016 First Prize blue ribbon and official score sheet from the Buckeye State Button Society, which recognizes the collection for its representation of stars, stripes, and spiral patterns.
