Description
An assortment of antique black glass buttons, dating to the 19th century, presented on four display cards. The collection includes various decorative techniques such as intaglio or reverse cameo carvings featuring portraits, animals, and botanical motifs. One card is specifically labeled Whistles in Black Glass, showcasing faceted designs with gold-accented highlights and central apertures. Other examples feature hand-painted or inlaid patterns including anchors, birds, and floral scenes, as well as geometric arrangements with embossed heraldic and figural relief. The buttons are found in a variety of shapes including round, oval, rectangular, and hexagonal, many with gold-toned or silver-toned luster finishes. The items are mounted on white and off-white cardstock, some featuring handwritten collector notes regarding specific characteristics such as no shank.
Cards approximately 9 inches in width. Individual buttons range from approximately 0.25 inches to 1.25 inches in diameter. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
