Description

This collection of antique black glass buttons dates to the 19th century and is presented on five professionally organized display boards. The assortment includes various manufacturing techniques and decorative styles such as molded, pierced, and shell-embellished glass. Specific examples feature iridescent mother-of-pearl inlays, gold and silver lusters, matte finishes, and faceted surfaces. Decorative patterns include floral, geometric, lacy, and pomegranate designs. The buttons are categorized on competition-style cards with labels identifying characteristics such as shank type, including loop and plate, pin, and self-shanks, and specific pattern names. One board includes a red Second Prize ribbon and entry card from the Buckeye State Button Society competition dated 2017.

Each display board measures approximately 9 by 12 inches. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
