Description
This collection of antique and vintage buttons is presented on two professionally prepared display boards. The first board, labeled Mixed Polymer, contains an assortment of buttons in various plastics including Bakelite and celluloid. These buttons feature diverse forms such as floral, geometric, and novelty shapes like a stylized tree and a flower with rhinestone centers. Decorative techniques include carving, molding, and the use of contrasting colors such as red, yellow, green, and cream. The second board, labeled Black Glass, features multiple round and oval buttons with intricate relief-molded designs. These are organized into a grid with descriptive labels including Rose, Angel, Oriental Scene, Lady with Fan, and Lady in Tassled Hat. Several examples are noted as having dated patents. The collection demonstrates a wide range of late 19th and early 20th-century button manufacturing techniques.
The display boards measure approximately 11 inches in width. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
