Description
A collection of vintage buttons presented on two off-white sample display boards. The buttons are primarily constructed from early plastics, including Bakelite and celluloid, designed to imitate the mottled amber, brown, and black patterns of natural tortoiseshell. The assortment features a variety of forms including round, square, diamond, and cylindrical shapes. Decorative elements include metal filigree, carved floral and geometric motifs, and central glass or metallic inlays. The boards are professionally labeled with printed text reading (LOOKS – LIKE) TORTISE MODERN and TORTISE IMITATION, accompanied by handwritten notations such as Bakelite, Coralene, and Class 177.1 Imitation Tortise Shell. The buttons are securely mounted to the cards.
Dimensions per board: 11 x 9 inches Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
