Spring Button Auction Day 1
Lot 2394:
Description
This collection consists of various items, primarily these are buttons, alongside studs and pins, all mounted on a white display card. The pieces feature diverse Masonic iconography, most notably the square and compass symbol, often centered with the letter G. Construction materials include brass, silver-tone metal, copper, and enamel. Several items exhibit intricate relief work depicting architectural tools and symbolic figures, while others feature smooth enamel finishes in blue, black, and turquoise. Notable inscriptions include Lodge Victoria and Ivanhoe No. 448. Accompanying handwritten notations on the card attribute certain pieces to the French Masonic Order and suggest production dates from the late 18th to early 19th centuries. Some items are identified as being converted from cuff buttons with copper links.
