Description
This collection consists of antique and vintage decorative buttons organized and mounted on two display boards. The buttons are crafted from various materials including brass, pewter, blued and cut steel, shell, wood, vegetable ivory, and reverse-painted glass. Decorative techniques include enamel work and relief casting. The motifs featured across the collection include fauna such as birds, insects, and dogs; botanical elements including acorns, grapes, and flowers; mythological figures such as Minerva and the Green Man; and various objects including anchors, dice, and artists palettes. One mounting board contains typed labels detailing specific categories and material compositions, such as blued steel and vegetable ivory, including a reverse-painted glass dog button noted as scarce. The second board includes handwritten notations identifying construction details like thread bound and recessed center. The items represent styles from the Victorian and Art Nouveau periods.
Board dimensions: approximately 8.5 x 11.5 inches each Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
