Description
An assortment of antique and vintage buttons presented on two display boards labeled SMALL SHELL and MIXED MOP. These items are buttons primarily composed of various types of shell and mother-of-pearl. The collection showcases a variety of decorative techniques including relief carving, metal inlays, and inset colored glass. Stylistic elements range from geometric patterns to floral and pictorial motifs. Handwritten notations on the mounting boards include 18th Ca, Inlay is flush w/ surface, and Man Non-Irid, suggesting a range of periods and material characteristics. The buttons are secured to the boards with wire or thread.
Each board measures approximately 12 inches by 9 inches. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
