Description
A collection of vintage buttons presented on two separate display cards. The first card, on purple board, is labeled Laminate, Inset Shell and contains buttons in various geometric forms including round, square, navette, and oval shapes. These pieces are constructed from mother-of-pearl, abalone, and other shell materials, utilizing lamination and inlay techniques. Notable designs include a piece depicting a bird on a branch and several buttons with iridescent shell segments. The second card, on tan board, is labeled Metal Mirrors on Shell and features round shell buttons embellished with reflective metal inserts. One button is specifically annotated as containing copper disks. The collection demonstrates various artisan techniques such as carving, texturing, and multi-material assembly.
Each card approximately 12 x 9 inches Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
