Description
A collection of 19th-century American buttons, primarily manufactured in the Waterbury, Connecticut, region during the mid-19th century. The group features various designs in brass, gold-plated, and nickel-plated metal, including floral, geometric, and figural motifs such as grapes and anchors. Identified manufacturers include Scovills & Co., Benedict & Burnham, Wadhams Webster & Co., Ives Kendrick & Co., R. & W. Robinson, Draper & Sandland, W.H. Jones & Co., Smith & Hopkins, and Leavenworth Spencer & Sperry. These items are buttons mounted on a custom white display board with handwritten labels identifying each maker. The lot is accompanied by printed reference documentation listing manufacturer operational dates ranging from the 1820s through the 1850s. The buttons feature intact shanks secured through circular cutouts with colored wire.
