Description
This lot comprises three decorative items in the Chinoiserie style, including a pair of vintage brass pheasant figurines and a hand-carved stone figure. The brass figurines are cast with textured feather detailing and elongated tail feathers, representing a male with a crest and a female. While no maker marks are visible, these pieces are consistent with mid-century brass animal figures attributed to Japanese manufacture. The third item is a hand-carved soapstone figure of Shouxing, the Chinese Star God of Longevity. The figure is carved in shades of tan and pale green with visible natural veining, and it is depicted with a traditional high forehead, holding a staff and a peach.
Pheasant length: 14 inches
Stone figure height: 5.5 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The brass pheasant figurines are in good vintage condition with minor surface oxidation and light wear consistent with age and display. The carved stone figure has a significant, visible chip at the top of the forehead and minor shelf wear around the base.
