Description
This lot features a matched pair of vintage Pioneer high-fidelity audio components consisting of a solid-state integrated stereo amplifier and a stereo tuner. Both units are manufactured by Pioneer Electronic Corp. in Japan and feature brushed metal faceplates with wood-grain side panels.
The Pioneer SA-8800 is an integrated stereo amplifier equipped with a blue Fluorscan digital power meter display calibrated in Watts at 8 ohms. The front panel includes a large stepped volume knob, bass, treble, and balance controls, and cartridge load selectors (pF and ohms). It features toggle switches for subsonic and high filters, tone defeat, loudness, muting, and tape monitor/duplicate functions. Inputs include Phono 1, Phono 2, Tuner, and Aux. The rear panel provides two sets of speaker terminals (A and B), pre-out/power-in jumpers, a voltage selector for international use, and four AC convenience outlets.

The Pioneer TX-7800 is a servo-locked AM/FM stereo tuner. It features an analog slide-rule tuning dial for FM (88–108 MHz) and AM (550–1600 kHz) with two analog meters for signal strength and center tuning. Controls include a weighted tuning knob, output level control, and toggle switches for power, FM/AM function, AM IF band, MPX noise filter, and FM muting/mode. The rear panel includes a swivel AM ferrite bar antenna, terminals for 300 ohm and 75 ohm FM antennas, fixed and variable RCA outputs, and a voltage selector.

One Pioneer-branded two-prong power plug is included. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
Both units exhibit significant surface pitting, spotting, and signs of oxidation across the brushed metal faceplates. The wood-grain side panel on the lower left of the SA-8800 amplifier shows a large chip and peeling of the veneer. Both units power on with all displays, meters, and indicator lights illuminated as shown in photographs. No further functional testing or audio quality assessment has been performed.
