Description
This vintage bench vise was manufactured by the Columbian Vise & Co. of Cleveland, Ohio. The unit is constructed from heavy-duty cast iron and features an integrated rear anvil surface and a 360-degree swivel base. It is equipped with a solid square steel sliding bar, a cold-rolled steel screw, and a steel handle with spherical ball ends. One side of the vise body features raised embossed lettering that reads COLUMBIAN VISE CO CLEVELAND, O. U.S.A. The opposite side is marked with the model designation NO 43 1/2. The tool includes replaceable hardened steel jaw inserts and a single locking lever on the base to secure the swivel position. The exterior is finished in a dark maroon paint with white highlighted lettering.

Condition report:
The vise is in good, functional condition. The paint finish is well-preserved, indicating a probable past refurbishment. The jaw faces exhibit moderate wear and surface scuffing consistent with regular workshop use. The screw mechanism and sliding bar appear straight and operate smoothly throughout their range of motion. Minor surface oxidation is present on the unpainted steel handle and screw components.
