Description
This one-piece primitive wall-mounted hanging cabinet or desk is constructed from pine with a natural aged finish. The vernacular piece features a simple box construction with nail fasteners, a slanted profile, and decoratively shaped side supports. The front configuration includes three doors: a single full-height door on the right and a split upper and lower door arrangement on the left. The interior is divided into simple pigeonholes and small shelves for document storage. Hardware includes iron hinges, a turned wooden knob, and a metal keyhole escutcheon. A pair of wrought-iron mounting brackets is included for installation. The interior of the right door retains a significant portion of a German-language calendar for the year 1867, titled Das Jahr 1867. A small paper label near the latch indicates historical service, reading REPAIRED BY L. L. KEICHERT MOSELLE MO 6-16-92.

Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The cabinet displays significant signs of age and historical use, including surface abrasions, wood losses, and overall weathering to the pine. The construction remains stable. One shaped side support shows more significant wear and loss than the other. Historical repairs are visible, including those documented on the interior label dated 1892.
