Description
This Victorian-era hall tree is crafted from walnut in the Renaissance Revival style with Gothic architectural influences, dating to the late 19th century. The tall, ornate frame features intricate pierced fretwork with trefoil and quatrefoil motifs and is topped by several turned finials. The upper section contains a central shaped mirror flanked by a total of six turned wooden pegs designed for hanging coats and hats. Below the mirror is a single small glove drawer fitted with a faceted glass knob. The mid-section includes a shaped shelf and two large scrolling arms that form an umbrella or cane stand. The piece is supported by a solid, contoured base decorated with beaded lower molding. The wood displays a rich finish and hand-finished details typical of the period. No maker marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the piece.
90.5 inches high x 40 inches wide x 13 inches deep. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The hall tree is in good structural condition. The walnut surface exhibits a well-preserved patina with minor scuffs, localized surface scratches, and light wear consistent with age and domestic use. The mirror is clear with only minor evidence of silvering loss at the edges. All turned pegs and finials are present and secure.
