Description
This vintage figure is an officially licensed product manufactured by Applause Inc. in 1989, representing the character Mario from the Super Mario Bros. 2 video game series. The figure features a hybrid construction comprising a soft-filled plush body with fabric clothing and molded vinyl components for the head, hands, and feet. Mario is outfitted in a red fabric cap with a white circular emblem and red letter M, a blue fabric shirt, and red fabric overalls with two yellow circular buttons. The molded vinyl head includes a black mustache, black eyebrows, and painted blue eyes. The figure retains its original double-sided cardboard hang tag. The front of the tag features the Nintendo logo, the Super Mario Bros. 2 logo, a Three Cheers from Applause logo, and a graphic illustration of the character. The reverse of the tag provides the manufacturer information for Applause Inc. in Woodland Hills, CA, a 1989 Nintendo of America, Inc. copyright, and the gold starburst Official Nintendo Licensed Product seal. A blue flower-shaped plastic retail fastener is attached to the left shoulder.
Height: 12.5 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The figure is in very good vintage condition. The original cardboard hang tag remains attached but shows minor creasing and edge wear consistent with age. Both molded vinyl hands are still encased in their original protective factory plastic coverings. No original box or additional packaging is included.
