Description
A group of US currency and coinage. The primary item is a printed Series of 1929 $10 Federal Reserve Bank Note issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Illinois (District 7). This note features a brown Treasury seal and serial numbers G03044367A. The obverse displays a portrait of Alexander Hamilton, and the reverse depicts the US Treasury building. Signatures include Jones and Woods as Register and Treasurer, with Peterson and McDougal as Assistant Deputy Governor and Governor. The lot also contains struck copper-nickel Buffalo nickels and a struck 90% silver Standing Liberty quarter dollar. Dates are no longer visible on the coins due to extensive circulation wear. These notes were released as emergency currency to stabilize the banking system during the Great Depression. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The banknote is in circulated condition showing multiple heavy vertical and horizontal folds, corner rounding, and light surface soiling. The Buffalo nickels are heavily worn to the point of being slicks with no legible dates. The Standing Liberty quarter is heavily circulated with a worn date and exhibits dark environmental toning and scattered surface marks.
