Description

This mid-20th century industrial safety sign is composed of porcelain enamel over a heavy-gauge steel plate. The layout follows a classic hazard warning format common in the United States prior to the standardization of OSHA and ANSI Z535 designs. The top portion features a red oval containing the word DANGER in white block capital letters. Below, the phrase HIGH VOLTAGE is rendered in black block lettering on a white field, with the word HIGH flanked by two horizontal wedge-shaped graphic accents. The sign is finished in black on the reverse. No manufacturer name or date code is present.
Dimensions: 10 inches x 14 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:

The sign exhibits condition issues consistent with age and long-term industrial use. A significant area of porcelain loss and oxidation is present at the upper left corner. Additional minor chipping and oxidation are visible along the top and bottom edges. The white enameled field shows a general yellowish-brown patina, scattered surface scratches, and various stains. The reverse side shows widespread light scratching, scuffing, and minor surface rust along the edges.
