Description
This full-size 4/4 violin is a trade instrument manufactured in Europe during the late 19th or early 20th century. The instrument is identified by a three-line stamp on the back of the pegbox that reads CONSERVATORY VIOLIN. It features a two-piece flamed maple back with matching ribs and neck. The top plate is constructed from straight-grained spruce. An interior printed paper label is present, transcribing as Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis / Faciebat Anno 17 with illegible handwritten characters and a circular monogram featuring the letters A, +, and S. The fingerboard appears to be ebony or a stained hardwood. The pegs and tailpiece are constructed from a dark wood or composite material.

Condition report:
The instrument is in poor to fair condition and is currently unplayable. There is a significant longitudinal crack on the spruce top plate extending from the tailpiece region to the bottom edge. The bridge and soundpost are missing. The tailpiece is detached from the endpin, and only two loose strings remain. Three fine-tuner adjustment knobs are missing from the tailpiece. The finish shows heavy varnish wear throughout, particularly on the edges and the back of the neck, along with numerous scuffs, scratches, and dings. Accumulations of dust and debris are visible inside the body. Professional restoration is required.
