Description
This is an original World War II era lithographic propaganda poster issued by the United States government in 1944. The artwork is by Leon Helguera, with the signature L. Helguera visible in the lower right of the primary illustration. The composition features Uncle Sam giving a thumbs up gesture next to a comparative line graph titled Cost of Living in Two Wars, contrasting the inflation of World War I against the price stability of World War II. The right side of the poster contains a vertical yellow banner with bold black and red text reading Keep up the good work, Keep down living costs, and Pay no more than ceiling prices. A small circular inset in the upper right corner depicts a housewife. The lower right margin is printed with the mark: U.S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE : 1944 — O — 585391.

Condition report:
The poster is in good vintage condition. It retains the original distribution fold lines in a 3x4 grid. There is a horizontal tear approximately 2 inches long extending through the letter L in the word LIVING on the left side. Additional minor tears and wear are present along the top and left margins. Small pinholes are located at the four corners. The reverse shows expected age-related toning, light foxing, and minor soiling. Colors remain vibrant with no significant fading.
