Description
A pair of cast iron fireplace andirons manufactured by Liberty Foundry Co. of St. Louis, Missouri. Each andiron features a hollow-cast figure of a seated black Labrador retriever. The interior of each dog casting is embossed with the maker mark LIBERTY FDY. The figures are finished in black paint and are bolted to horizontal iron billets. The design reflects a traditional sporting dog motif.
Head depth: 5.5 inches
Height: approximately 15 to 16 inches
Billet length: approximately 14 to 16 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The andirons are in good used condition. The black finish on the dog figures exhibits minor surface wear, dust, and light oxidation consistent with age. The horizontal billets show surface rust and accumulated debris from past fireplace use. The iron castings are intact with no visible cracks, breaks, or structural repairs.
