Description
A stencil print (kappazuri) by the Japanese artist Yoshitoshi Mori (1898-1992). The work depicts two stylized figures in an intimate embrace, rendered with bold black outlines and traditional patterns in purple, grey, and red. The piece is hand-signed in pencil by the artist at the lower right as Y. Mori and dated 86. It is designated as an artist proof with the notation A.P. N. A square red artist seal is present above the signature. The print is professionally housed in a black frame with a double mat in cream and purple. The reverse of the frame features an artist biography label and a gallery sticker from Kanda’s Gallery B.O.Q, Tokyo.
Framed dimensions: 21.5 x 17.5 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The print appears to be in very good condition. There is no evidence of foxing, fading, or significant toning to the paper. The frame shows minor surface wear consistent with age and handling. The matting is clean and the glass is intact. Not examined out of the frame.
