Description
A Chinoiserie style table lamp featuring a seated figure of a Chinese dignitary or deity. The figure is cast in a composite material with a textured verdigris and faux stone finish, depicted in traditional robes and headwear. The figure is mounted on a dark stained, stepped wooden pedestal base. A central brass tone metal rod supports a single light socket equipped with a turn knob switch. The lamp is topped with an off-white, hexagonal fabric shade featuring angled corners and finished with a brass tone metal finial cast in the shape of a traditional Chinese cash coin with a central square hole. The coin finial features the embossed characters Kangxi Tongbao. The lamp is fitted with a standard two-prong power cord. The item was in working condition at the time of cataloging. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The lamp is in good decorative condition with age-appropriate wear. There are small chips and casting losses to the composite material on the reverse side of the figure where the vertical brass tone support rod enters the body. The wooden base shows minor surface scuffs. Light surface scratches and minor points of oxidation are present on the brass tone hardware. The fabric shade shows light handling wear and minor soiling.
