A collection of mid-century United States Air Force (USAF) service dress uniforms dating from the post-World War II era through the Vietnam War era.

The first item is an enlisted man’s blue wool tropical service dress coat, Shade 1084. It features rank insignia for an Airman Second Class (A/2C) with two-stripe sleeve insignia on both arms, along with circular U.S. collar discs and silver-tone metal USAF buttons. An interior pocket label reads: Coat, Man’s, Wool Tropical / Blue, A.F. Shade 1084 / Spec. Mil-C-27438C(USAF) / Stock Number 8405-753-5883 / Contract No. DSA-1-6721 / Tursini & Co. / Size 36 R / 100% Wool. The DSA contract code dates this coat to circa 1965.

The second item is an enlisted lightweight blue service jacket in the Ike style. It is decorated with a single-stripe sleeve insignia on the left shoulder denoting the rank of Airman Third Class (A/3C). It features blue composite buttons.

The third item is an officer’s lightweight blue service jacket in the Ike style. It displays captain rank insignia with silver-tone metal double bars on the epaulettes. Above the left breast pocket, there is an embroidered silver-thread Command Pilot wing badge featuring a star and wreath.

The fourth item is a custom-tailored officer’s summer service dress coat in a khaki/tan shade. It features a silver braid on the cuffs and silver-tone metal USAF buttons. The interior lining contains a woven label reading: Sol Frank Co. / San Antonio, Texas / Custom Made Uniform. This style of tan service uniform was used by the USAF from the late 1940s until its phase-out in the early 1960s. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
