Description
A vintage United States Navy Type S summer flying suit manufactured by the Switlik Parachute Company Incorporated. This one-piece military garment is constructed from a lightweight khaki cotton twill fabric. Manufactured under Bureau of Aeronautics specification M-668, it features a central full-length brass-tone metal zipper closure. The suit is designed with six button-down flap utility pockets: two at the chest, two on the thighs, and two on the lower legs, all secured with dark gray four-hole plastic buttons. The sleeves have simple turned cuffs, and the neckline features a standard pointed collar. An original black woven contract label is sewn into the interior neck area with yellow-gold embroidered text reading: SUITS, FLYING SUMMER TYPE S, SPECIFICATION M-668, U.S. NAVY, BUAERO, SWITLIK PARACHUTE CO. INC., CONTRACT N383s-5088, SIZE 36 LONG.
